Dear Families,
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Palm Crest Elementary. My name is Mrs. Amy Tsai and I am honored to be your child’s sixth grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher this year. 2019-20 marks my sixth year with the talented and dedicated staff here at PCR and my 14th year as a classroom teacher.
The following is a brief biography about my career and personal educational philosophy:
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley. Shortly after graduating college, I participated in AmeriCorps where I volunteered as a reading coach, helping at-risk students gain confidence in their literacy skills. After my public service, I went on to attend the University of Southern California’s Teacher Education Program and graduated with a Masters in Education. I have been a classroom teacher for the past thirteen years and have experience teaching fifth grade, sixth grade, and two years as a middle school STEM teacher. In addition to being in the classroom, I also served as a Technology Coordinator at a Los Angeles charter school and have earned an Administrative Credential and a BCLAD in Mandarin.
My educational philosophy is to provide all students a safe, rigorous, and engaging educational experience. You will find that I hold extremely high expectations for all my students. It is my goal to ensure that all my students exit my class more competent, more confident, and fully prepared for the next level of their education.
I recognize that in order for our children to be successful, they need support from both home and school. Therefore, I want to thank you in advance for your support and trust. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Amy Tsai
